Hear What People Are Saying About Us
“With 4 years of training, karate is part of Abiela’s identity, strength and determination to embrace life. The karate program recognized that the pillars of a child’s life are family and education. By encouraging the ethics of perseverance, friendship and a belief in oneself, it helped develop natural leadership and a keen desire to improve in all her endeavours.”
“Abiela’s physical fitness and defence skills are amazing and were the main motivators for her enrolment, but I was surprised by how much the karate has helped with her personal development. Not once has she said that she doesn’t feel like going to training, because she gains do much satisfaction from each class.”
Klaus Unewisse
“One of the main things that impressed me about the HVMAC was the quality of the instruction and the broadness of the curriculum. There is an excellent balance of fitness, technique, knowledge and history.”
Stephen Taylor
“When you walk into the studio it does not matter if you are a … student, parent or you just need some information, you are greeted with a warm friendly smile and made to feel very welcome.”
“Cory is doing better at school and has even received merit awards from his teacher for helping his class mates, focusing on school work and on his good manners.”
Wayne Jennison
“Since my daughter has started martial arts her self confidence has improved 100% as has her stamina, fitness and overall sense of well-being.”
“Everybody who knows her has noticed this change in her, especially her teachers at school. Before she started karate she was shy and withdrawn and would not raise her hand in class even though she knew the answers. Now her teacher has to tell her to lower her hand to give the other children a go.”
“She is also more respectful and thoughtful and I know all these positive changes in her are due entirely to the Hunter Valley Martial Arts Centre. A big thankyou to all the wonderful team.”
Peita Adnum and Jarrod Banks
“I was really looking for something that would help me with my fitness, something more than just getting on the treadmill at the gym with nothing to achieve but watching the minutes pass by. I was also wanting something that was mine, something to be proud of.”
“The ideals that we learn at karate often mingle into my day to day life at work and at home. Someone once said to me that I must think I am “pretty tough because I learn karate”. Yes, I am tough, but not in physical strength, more importantly in mind and spirit.”
Norma Farrow
“Beginning karate at age 49 was quite a challenging experience. However, through the encouragement, support, professionalism and expertise of my instructors I have found karate to be a very positive, enjoyable and rewarding experience, benefiting me both personally and professionally.”
“Attitudes are shaped by people you associate with. If you spend time with positive people then self-esteem is enhanced. Integrity and character are the best defence against hurtful, annoying and disrespectful people.”
“I believe the HVMAC develops and furthers these values and life skills through their supportive, non-judgemental and inspiring training.”
Brett Logan
“As a mother of two small boys, I was looking for something that would allow me to “let off steam”, while learning something beneficial to both mind and body.”
“Karate has given me these things. In addition, I find that my mental focus has improved, as has my physical strength and stamina. I now have muscles that I never dreamed existed!”
Jennifer Chesher
“When I first met Sensei Hayes I realized that he didn’t need to try and promote himself or the dojo, but because of his general nature as a whole, his flair, competitiveness, his life experiences and core power that simply radiated from him, I knew that this dojo, with all of its gifted, talented senior belt and people to look up to, was exceptional.”
Matt Robinson
"Karate is a very well-rounded activity for Braith, teaching him how important it is to be active, healthy and involved.
We also love the character building aspect of karate. The lessons Braith has learned regarding respect, empathy, persistence etc. have only enhanced his growing personality.
Thankyou for providing a nurturing environment."
Mark Sneddon, Parent
"Both our children have benefited greatly from the program at HVMAC. Callum’s confidence to participate in the discipline has grown each year to the point where now he has excelled his own expectations and competed at both state and national level.
Both boys’ attitude to school and manners at home have improved dramatically. Their family is extremely proud of both of them and we are grateful to HVMAC."
Robert Henderson, Parent
"Both my children are studetns at the centre. The benefits are manifested in their self-belief, confidence and fitness levels.A quote from my 7 year old daughter:
"Karate makes me feel safe."
A quote from my 9 year old son: "I like coming to karate because it is always fun."
The centre is run very professionally and it is blatantly obvious the staff care about the well being and progress of all studetns.
Highly recommended!"
Leanne Stipack, Parent
HVMAC has helped develop our son’s self confidence along with a healthy respect for others. The disciplined, but fun environment that HVMAC supports and envourages has provided a training ground that has helped develop Daniel’s physical fitness levels.
The friendships that he has found within the HVMAC family extend outside of the centre. The children/students of HVMAC support each other within the school environment and within the general community.
The fabulous instructors have helped to instill a positive attitude that helps him in many areas such as school work and play. I can not recommend HVMAC enough for the support and development they have provided to our son."
Michael and Lynda Casey, Parents
"Jackson started Kindymites because he was one of the smallest and shiest when he started school ( and because he was/is a huge fan of TMNT and Pwer Rangers). He was also being bullied.
He is now a Dynamite and he responmds well to the challenges he is set in class. He is becoming more confident and is no longer bullied at school. He practises at thome every day and he loves it so much. His enthusiasm has rubbed off on me and I’ve joined cardio combat!
Thanks to the encouragement, support and guidance to us both.
What a great facility! We highly recommend it!"
Lisa Bartley, Parent and Martial Artist
"As a student at HVMAC I find it hard to list just a few of the benefits that I have received from studying at this school. Firstly, the quality of teaching is of the highest calibre. Sensei Hayes is a martial arts teacher of very high standard. To learn under him and the otehr senseis is an honour as all of them are highly enthusiastic and take teaching others very seriously, while having a sense of humour.
I have found that doing karate while I am studying creates a very important balance. Karate not only helps with my concentration but provides me both time to relax and de-stress.
Karate is a very enjoyable aspect of my life and has positively impacted me as a person."
Catherine Ivanfy
"For me, karate is a way to get away from school. It allows me to engage in a sport that has begun to become my passion. HVMAC is a highly energetic place and everyone in it has the same passion, motivation and sense of enjoyment, creating a pleasant environment to train in.
The staff at HVMAC are a highly qualified team of people who’s aims are to make training enjoyable and practical. Their love for karate rubs off onto their students."
